![]() ![]() All for Nothing: The mystery in the third book is an attempt to poison reviled Corrupt Corporate Executive and space tourist Lars Sjoberg. When a syringe full of cyanide gets jabbed in his thigh, Cesar shrieks and passes out. Afraid of Needles: Cesar Marquez is this, as noted by Dash. The book was published on April 24th, 2018. If Dash wants to find out who tried to poison Lars, he'll need to do it now. Seems Moon Base Alpha's oxygen systems are failing, and the oxygen supplies are dropping. However, it becomes a lot more complicated when a deadline is put on his investigation. Since Dash solved two mysteries on the base already, Nina pretty much drafts him into solving this one as well. Seems there was something in his lutefisk, and when he ate it, it started making him act weird. However, on their way in, they get word of a shocking event. Nina caught them outside and ordered them to come in, since they broke a bunch of rules by doing what they did. In fact, it's Dash's birthday today, and his dad decided to bring him out on the lunar surface to play some low-gravity catch with him. It's been some time since Nina's brief disappearance, and life continues on as normal on MBA. It's the third and final entry in the Moon Base Alpha series. Waste of Space is a Children's Science Fiction Mystery novel by Stuart Gibbs. ![]()

![]() ![]() Weird fiction is in many ways a product of landscape. ![]() What Edward Parnell-who, when he is not exploring the remoter corners of his history- and strangeness-laden nation, is a novelist, and he has described to me that his one published novel ( The Listeners, 2014) is “a rather dark, gothic study of family secrets in a rural WWII British setting”-has done is to testify, in restrained but lapidary prose, to his lifelong interest in horror in literature and other media and his determination to seek out the locales where some of these works were set and he has apparently done so as a means of coming to terms with the wrenching tragedies in his life. And it is certainly not even remotely an academic study of the field-for which we should all be immensely grateful. On the surface, Ghostland might be regarded merely as a routine travelogue of some of the places in Great Britain that have inspired some of the greatest weird stories and films of the past century or more but it is anything but routine.
